The UAE Ministry of Finance (“MoF”) has extended the deadline for appointing an Accredited Service Provider (“ASP” – a vendor responsible for assisting businesses with the issuance, exchange, and reporting of e-invoices) from 31 July 2026 to 30 October 2026 for businesses falling under Phase 1 of the mandatory e-invoicing implementation, specifically businesses with annual revenues exceeding AED 50 million.
The extension provides businesses with additional time to evaluate suitable ASPs, undertake readiness assessments, and prepare their systems and processes for the phased implementation of mandatory e-invoicing in the UAE from 1 January 2027.
What are the implications of this change for UAE businesses?
This extension offers several critical implications for businesses operating in the UAE
- Extended Assessment Period: Businesses now have an additional three months to thoroughly assess their existing systems, identify any compliance gaps, and strategically select suitable ASPs that meet their operational needs.
- Unchanged Go-Live Date: It is crucial to note that the mandatory e-invoicing go-live date for phased implementation remains January 1, 2027. The extension pertains solely to the ASP appointment, not the commencement of e-invoicing itself.
- Wider Choice of ASP Providers: The extended timeline is anticipated to encourage more ASPs to enter the UAE market, potentially leading to a wider array of choices and more competitive service offerings for businesses.
- Continued Preparation Imperative: Despite the extension, core implementation priorities such as ERP readiness, process alignment, integration planning, and proactive engagement with ASPs remain paramount for a smooth transition.
